Statistical Survey

Short Description

This statistical survey technique is a quantitative method that aims to know the opinion of a group of people concerned by related to a given topic. The survey is done through survey questions, questionnaires, interviews, etc. It is used to carry out a research in the most punctual way possible, consulting the target group of reference; in this way one starts from experience to arrive at a scientifically founded work. Surveys provide important information for all kinds of public-information and research fields.

Pedagogical Information

The survey is carried out on a reference sample group to which questions are addressed. Then, from the answers the opinion trends relative to the subject under examination are inferred. It is necessary to pay attention to the sample group and the related answers because a distorted sample group will give a bad result.

European Dimension

The survey is an excellent method that allows to have real and statistical results on the opinion of the examined sample group that overshadows the general opinion of a larger group.

Citizenship and Democracy

The Council of Europe in 2005 promoted the Year of European Citizenship with the slogan “Learning to Live Democracy”. The fight against discrimination and racism were the concept of democracy and legality, active participation emphasized. The Federuni has developed these themes and carried out a sociological research in 2010 in collaboration with the Rezzara Chair. In the present multicultural society the concept of citizenship has become tendentially contradictory and conflicting. The research has proposed to survey the territory of Bari and Vicenza (South and North) in order to assess the population (young and old) taken into consideration think about citizenship.
